Simple Exercise Regimen for Elderly Clients

  1. Stretching (5-10 minutes): Start with gentle stretches to warm up muscles. Focus on reaching for the sky, stretching legs, and loosening shoulders to improve flexibility and reduce stiffness.
  2. Chair Squats (10 reps): Sit in a sturdy chair, stand up, and sit back down slowly. This strengthens leg muscles and improves balance, crucial for fall prevention.
  3. Arm Raises (10 reps): While seated or standing, raise both arms above your head and slowly bring them down. This exercise strengthens the shoulders and promotes mobility.
  4. Heel-to-Toe Walk (2-3 minutes): Walk in a straight line, placing the heel of one foot directly in front of the toe of the other. This improves coordination and balance.
  5. Seated Marching (2 minutes): While seated, march in place by lifting your knees one at a time. This boosts cardiovascular health and circulation without the stress of high-impact activity.
